Community Boys' Lacrosse Team
The Bronx Lacrosse boys team had an amazing season! With 6 wins and only 2 losses, they earned a spot in the championship game even though they came short at the end. Their hard work, team spirit, and support from their coaches and community have helped them get this far.
A Great Season
The players have shown strong skills and good sportsmanship all season long. Their coaches have helped them grow as athletes and as a team. The 6–2 record shows how much effort the boys have put into practicing and playing their best at every game.
Perseverance
In one game against team 363, Academy For Personal Leadership And Excellence, on May 2nd, the team started off badly and the other team took advantage of that and got an early lead. Despite this setback the team didn’t put their heads down and give up but came back to win the game by working together and picking not only themselves up but also picking each other up. On one play, we had the ball at “X” which means behind the goal. One of our players got past their defender by split dodging attracting the other defenders, he passed it up and the ball was caught and shot into the back of the net. GOAL!!! After the goal, the opposing team called a timeout in our huddle. 8th grader defensive starter Ahammed Mostafa said to the team; “ Job’s not finished.” He told the team to keep pushing and that’s what we did.
Championship Bound
The team lost in the championship against the Highbridge Green School. It’s was not just any game, it’s a rematch against the only team they lost to earlier this season, Highbridge Green School. The boys were fired up and ready to prove how far they’ve come. Everyone in the community around 167 st is cheering them on and proud of how much they’ve grown. Even though they lost, they’ve already accomplished something big.
In Conclusion
This season has shown that with hard work, teamwork, and support, great things can happen. The Bronx Lacrosse boys have made their school and community proud, and their story is a great example of what it means to never give up. In all of the games everybody makes mistakes, the team does also it’s the way they forget about it and focus on the next play that’s what got them to where they are. As you see, the team isn’t one to give up when things get tough, they are the type to bounce back and come back stronger.
