At PS.IS 218 the kindergarten teacher team organizes activities for the kindergarteners for Characters Day.The purpose of the parade is to motivate the students to learn about their character. After the parade, they read a book about their character. The team starts planning the day at the end of September and then does the parade in October. It happens in the classroom then they go to rotate around the school to get motivated for reading. The parade happens to motivate the students and make them happy about who they are no matter what celebration/culture they do.
