Rockefeller State Park Photo Contest
Ken is a multimedia journalist with a special focus on visual stories, working in New York City and Tokyo. As a freelance journalist, he has contributed stories to a variety of media outlets, including ABC News, The Haitian Times, NBC News, the Olympic Channel, and Weekly Asahi (Japanese news magazine). A graduate of the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, he has been trained to work as a one-man-band journalist capable of shooting, editing, and producing visual stories as well as writing print articles. Previously, Ken worked as a program officer for the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), a non-profit organization in Washington, DC, and as a news producer for the NY bureau of Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS), one of the leading national TV networks in Japan. During his time at TBS, he helped produce an exclusive interview with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2010 and a reporting trip to the Arctic Ocean in 2007. He has a master’s degree in journalism from CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in international politics from American University. Originally from Tokyo, he is fluent in Japanese and English.
